On July 24, a grand opening ceremony for the Fishing Port Project in Ghana constructed by CHEC was held. The following distinguished guests were present at the ceremony: Ghana's President Akufo-Addo; the Minister of State and a member of the Parliament of Ghana; Minister of Transport; Minister of Western Regions,; Minister of Fishery Industry and Aquaculture Development of Ghana; His Excellency Wang Shiting – Chinese ambassador to Ghana and His Excellency Chai Zhijing - counselor of the Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office; Yang Tao – Party Secretary and Deputy General Manager of CHEC West Africa Regional Center.
In his speech, President Akufo-Addo said that the opening of the Fishing Port Project raised the hope of Ghanaians to improve their living standards and he was confident that CHEC would complete project on time with good standards. Afterwards, President Akufo-Addo personally laid the foundation for the project in.
His Excellency Wang Shiting said that Ghana is one of China's most important partners in Africa, and that the launching of this project would further promote the common prosperity of both countries.He is fully confident in CHEC’s successful completion of the fishing port project and its efficient contract performance.
The Fishing Port Project in Ghana, with 85% commercial loans from the China Development Bank and 15% raised by the local government, will be completed in 30 months. The project content comprises of the reconstruction and expansion of 10 fishing ports along the coast of Ghana and the construction of rear supporting fishing facilities. The completion of the project will provide a safety guarantee for fishermen to fish on the sea and fishing boats to reach the port. Moreover, it will provide a cleaner and healthier treatment environment, create more jobs and lay a foundation for improving Ghana’s overall economic level.
