On the evening of December 18, CHEC Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Macao Boundary Crossing Facilities Management Area Project Department held the 18th Anniversary of Macao's Return and Lighting Ceremony of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Macao Boundary Crossing Facilities Management Area themed on "Connecting Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao, Creating a Brilliance of the Bay Area" at the square in front of Passenger Terminal Building of the project. Fernando Chui - Chief Executive of Macao Special Administrative Region, Sun Da - Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Ye Dabo - a commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Luo Liwen - Director of Secretariat for Transport and Public Works, Fu Jianguo - Chairman of Nam Kwong Group Co., Ltd., Lin Ming - chief engineer of CCCC and General Manager of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Island Tunnel Project General Manager Department, Hong Yongye - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Committee for Discipline Inspection of CHEC, relevant responsible people of the Macao Special Administrative Region, some members of f the national committee of CPPCC from Macao, some members of the Legislative Assembly of Macao, representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises in Macao and responsible people of the construction participation units attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, the guests watched the project introduction video and progress video, which deepened their understanding of Macao Boundary Crossing Facilities Project. Mr. Lin Ming and Mr. Fu Jianguo gave speeches successively. Afterwards, 11 officiating guests, including Fernando Chui, started the lighting ceremony on the stage. In the process of counting backwards, along with the beautiful fireworks and lights, Macao Boundary Crossing Facilities Project made its first public appearance, and the goal of having the conditions for being open to the traffic and customs clearance was realized ahead of schedule, which is a gift for the 18th anniversary of Macao's return.
The construction of Macao Boundary Crossing Facilities Management Area Project officially started on December 10, 2016, and the project mainly comprises "Passenger Terminal Building", "Garage for Overseas Vehicles", "Garage for Domestic Vehicles" and "Municipal Periphery and Supporting Facilities", covering an area of about 658,000m2 and having a total building area of about 600,000m2. Generally, the same work amount takes two-three years, but this project was completed in one year in spite of extreme environment, great pressure and typhoons, which shows the strong organizing and mobilizing ability and surprising speed.
