On November 17th, the commendation conference of 2014-2015 China Construction Project “Luban Award (National High-quality Projects)” was held in Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Beijing. CHEC’s Hambantota Port Development Project (Phase I) and Hambantota International Airport Project in Sri Lanka won the 2014-2015 China Construction Project “Luban Award (Overseas Projects)” at the same time.

Hambantota Port Development Project Phase I is one of the most representative projects constructed by CHEC in Sri Lanka. Due to the influence of natural and social conditions, the project construction conditions were difficult and the construction difficulty was large. Actively responding to this, the project department insisted on the scientific management, and managed to solve various problems to ensure the high-quality and efficient completion of the project. After the project was put into use, the operation earned praise from the client. The successful completion of this project accumulates valuable experience for construction of similar projects in the future and further consolidates the status of CHEC in the market of Sri Lanka.

Hambantota International Airport is the second international airport taken by CHEC in Sri Lanka 25 years after the completion of the first international airport Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, so it attracted nationwide attention of Sri Lanka. During the project construction, the project department made daring innovations in the careful construction strictly  following the technical standards and finally constructed a high-quality international airport, and set up a local image of CHEC in the aspects of quality, progress, safety and environmental protection in Sri Lanka.

China Construction Project Luban Award, founded in 1987, is the highest honor for project quality in domestic construction industry. Since the year 2010-2011, Luban Award has been reviewed every year and presented once every two years. The winning of this award is not only full affirmation of project quality and technological level of relevant projects, but also demonstration of the construction strength of CHEC. It is significant to consolidate the advantageous status in the industry and enhance its brand image of the Company.
